250 California Drive
A new four-story office building, located in Downtown Burlingame, CA, adjacent to a train station and only 10 minutes away from San Francisco’s International Airport.

Challenge
Converting an existing automobile sales lot into the 250 California Drive 4th-floor office building in Burlingame posed a significant challenge in optimizing parking space while adhering to urban regulations. With only 13 initial parking spaces available on one floor, accommodating the necessary parking demand required a creative solution.
Solution
Utron’s Slide automated parking system transformed the parking capacity at 250 California Drive, multiplying the available parking spaces by eightfold. By implementing the Slide System across three floors underground, the project achieved a commendable 106 on-site parking stalls. This innovative solution not only maximized parking efficiency but also aligned with the strategic vision for an urban center, providing a seamless blend of technology and urban planning.

Technology
Utron Slide is a Conveyor Automated Parking solution, also referred to as “Matrix” parking system. The system is composed of stationary conveyors performing multi-dimensional movements of vehicles stored on pallets, on a single/multi-level structure.
Vehicles are stored on pallets on top of the conveyors yielding very high square-footage efficiency and fast parking and retrieval cycles.

Client note
We elected to use an automated parking system because of the small site located in an urban center. The Utron Slide System ultimately gave us the most efficient layout, resulting in 8 times the amount of parking compared to a conventional parking garage. – Ryan Guibara, the project applicant behind this building
